ACE strengthens democracy by helping emerging political organizations and independent movements find their voters and compete in elections.
Through training, coalition building, practical support, and independent election observation, we help partners grow stronger, run better campaigns, and reach more voters.
The Challenge
Americans are moving away from the two-party system at a historic rate: 45% now identify as independents, a share larger than either Democrats or Republicans. Among Gen Z, that number rises to 56%.
But this shift has not yet produced strong, credible alternatives at the ballot box. Many voters want more choice, yet minor parties and independent movements often lack the infrastructure, training, funding, and coordination needed to compete effectively.
As a result, millions of unaffiliated and politically dissatisfied voters remain underrepresented, while the two-party system continues to dominate electoral competition. ACE works to help close that gap by strengthening the organizations that can turn voter demand into viable campaigns
The Campaign Impact Framework
How it Works: Our Three Pillars
1. Coalition Building
We bring reform-minded parties, independent movements, and civic groups together to work on shared goals. This pillar ensures that promising ideas and organizations are connected, not isolated. We are rebuilding a system where people and parties can both compete and cooperate with one another.
2. Knowledge Sharing
We help emerging parties and movements build the skills and systems they need to compete, using a scalable training‑of‑trainers model. This approach turns a small core of trained leaders into a wider network of professional, credible organizations. We distribute our materials freely and don't gatekeep the knowledge or skills that, when widespread, enable a healthier civic space.
3. Election Observation
We support independent, nonpartisan election observation so that expanded competition is matched by trusted election processes. Confidence is key. Without trustworthy elections, coalition work and organizational strength are not enough. Election observation is the pillar that safeguards the conditions in which the other two can succeed.
